The Taketina process combines principles and techniques that are not found in any other current education system, and can be applied to all kinds of learning situations. The Taketina process is based on „Rhythm Archetypes“-an inner understanding of rhythmic laws and universal images passed down through all time. These archetypes have been uncovered by every culture on earth. Now, for the first time, these laws have been synthesized into a coherent learning process that enables everyone to access his or her own rhythmic ability for musical creativity and inner growth.
Learning Taketina is a full body experience of rhythm. We clap, step and sing to different rhythmic layers (polyrhythm) simultaneous. Learning through the body is direct and requires no technical skills on instruments. An important part of the process is to choose your level of “challenge”. So there is no need for musical experience at all to participate. Musicians and non musicians benefit equally from this process.

After many centuries without rhythm as a part of community life, we are coming to grips with the fact that we are unprepared to deal with our growing desire to feel rhythm, to play rhythm, and to dance. We are at a loss as to how to approach this situation. It calls for new methods of learning music and especially rhythm.

“Testimonials”

(Jochen Meyer, Berlin)
